Below the Radar

Below the Radar

High flyers get attention: their foes fire
To shoot them all to pieces in the air.
If flying high is your fast-held desire
You’d best for anti-aircraft guns prepare.
But I think: better fly below the radar
Beneath the ostentatious showy ones.
With less attention paid you – you’ll get far
Much further than those sighted in their guns.
Unnoticed, un-applauded – reap the fruit
Of quiet progress deftly planned and made.
The loud noise of the wonder-boys will suit
Them well as targets. Both approaches weighed:
Should you prefer to: fly-high, then fall far?
Nay – keep me below the public radar.
