The Sun

The Sun is lordly monarch of the day
Sunrise and sunset celebrate his round
With coloured pennons in a bright array
To let his skies with beauteous hues abound
For men who let their eyes wander and stare
Above them to the powers of the skies
That rule the mighty kingdoms of the air
Inviting all the souls of men arise
To behold all their glorious majesty
Each day renewed. Sure as day follows night
The sun dispels the darkness finally
Its daily victory plain to our sight.
Can we keep faith and keep watch for the dawn?
Or despair hopeless in the night, forlorn?
