Faked Smiles

Faked Smile

I went into a church: pretending they welcomed Gentiles.
I’m overwhelmed by: phony, faked, and counterfeited smiles.

Phony smiles are easy to put on. They’re also free.
Who knows? Some fool might take them for true Christian charity.

Fake smiles are goodly substitutes for sacrifice and care:
Replacing authenticity: which in church isn’t there.

Well – keep your smiles. And your shams. You think that we can’t tell
True love from false? Such imitations pave the roads to hell.
