Hold Fast

I have seen many summers come and go
And people who do not complete their race.
They cannot hold their course they started so –
They do not finish – and resign their place.
They started well, built a good foundation
But then abandoned all that they had built
To fall into a ruinous prostration
A mess of stones – remembered but with guilt.
The faith they once professed – they did forsake
For diverse reasons. They could not believe
It worth the cost. Too much it seemed to take
Humbly Amazing Grace they might receive.
“Deny Me – I’ll deny you on That Day.”
Remember this as you select your way.
