The welkin’s rent: a gaping hole
Down which is cast a falling soul.
A falling soul – from God cast out
From paradise, without a doubt.
The falling soul strikes hard the earth
But there’s no cycle of rebirth!
No self-redemption, cosmic dance,
Self-reclamation, second chance.
The falling soul – how fast it fell!
It lands amongst the lakes of hell.
Those lava pits, eternal fires
Which quench all men’s empty desires
Their empty hopes for fleeting gain
Extinguished in perpetual pain!
